Vittskövle Castle is an estate in Kristianstad Municipality, in Scania, southern Sweden. It was built between 1553 and 1577 and is described as one of the best-preserved Renaissance castles in the Nordic countries. In the late Middle Ages the estate belonged to the Archbishop of Lund. Jens Brahe, who lived from about 1500 to 1560, erected the main house in the 16th century as a defensive structure.
In the 18th century a fire damaged the northwest tower, and its spire was rebuilt in a romantic medieval style. Adolf Fredrik Barnekow, who lived from 1744 to 1787, mainly developed the park and gardens. In the early 19th century the Swedish artist Christian Laurentius Gernandt redecorated the interiors with murals and ceiling paintings.
Members of the Stjernswärd family have owned the estate since 1837. The castle is not open to the public.
