Trinity Cathedral stands on Soborna Square in the town of Samar, in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine. It was designed by the folk architect Yakym Pohribnyak. Groundbreaking took place in 1772, and it was completed in 1781. Its founders included the Kish otaman I. Chepiha, the colonel Antin Holovaty and the Sich Cossacks. It was the center of the Samara Palanka of the Zaporozhian Sich.

The cathedral is built of wood in the Ukrainian Baroque style. It has nine domes in a symmetrical layout, and the central dome is about 213 feet (65 meters) tall. It is the only surviving wooden nine-domed church in Ukraine.

The cathedral was renovated in 1830 and rebuilt in the old style in 1887 and 1888. It served as a storehouse in the Soviet period, and restoration began in August 2012. It is a monument of national significance.
