Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer is named as the architect in the infobox. The church was built from 1732 to 1737 on the site of a 13th-century Gothic church also dedicated to Saint Nicholas. The infobox gives a founding date of 1704, which the article does not explain. The infobox gives Baroque, and the text calls it late Gothic and Baroque. It is a basilica, 161 feet (49 m) high, and the article names no materials.

The Czech and Slovak Orthodox Church once used it. Since 1920 it has been the main church of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church and its Prague diocese. During the 1945 Prague uprising, Czech partisans used it as a hidden site for Radio Prague.

It is an active Hussite parish church. The article gives no heritage status or visiting details.
