The Sinan Pasha Mosque, also called the Al-Sinaniyya Mosque, stands on Suq Sinaniyya Street in Damascus, southwest of the walled city. It was completed in 1590 by Sinan Pasha, the Ottoman governor of Damascus from 1589 to 1593. The mosque is in an early Ottoman style and stands on the site of an older mosque. Its stone walls alternate black and white courses.
It has eight domes, a large dome over the prayer hall and seven small domes over the portico, which rests on marble columns. The single round minaret is made of green-enameled brick. Inside are a marble minbar and a mihrab with zigzag stonework. An octagonal basin for ablutions stands in the courtyard, and the fountain was renovated in 1893.
The mosque has an adjoining madrasa and is still in use.
