The O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire is a music venue on Shepherd's Bush Green in West London. It opened on August 17, 1903, as a music hall built for the impresario Oswald Stoll and designed by the theater architect Frank Matcham. Early performers included Charlie Chaplin with the Fred Karno Troupe.
The building staged variety shows and revues until the early 1950s. In 1953 the BBC bought it and renamed it the BBC Television Theatre, where it produced programs such as Crackerjack. The BBC left in 1991.
In 1993 the entrepreneur Andrew Mahler acquired the building and spent more than £1 million on refurbishment. It reopened in 1994 under its original name, and it now operates as a music venue with a capacity of 2,000. It is a Grade II listed building.
