The lead dates the present church to 1494 to 1657. The apse chapels were finished in 1530, the transept in 1578 and the nave from 1600 to 1620. Salomon de Brosse designed the French Baroque facade, whose cornerstone Louis XIII laid in 1616. The article names no architect for the Gothic parts, and calls the interior largely Gothic with a Renaissance-influenced upper nave.
Houses hid the facade until their demolition in 1854. The Revolution emptied the church and made it a Temple of Reason, and it returned to the Church in 1802. In 1918 a shell from a German Paris Gun hit it during a service, collapsing the roof and killing 91 people.
It was a parish church until 1975, and since then it has housed the Monastic Fraternities of Jerusalem. The organ is a registered historic landmark.
