The Maghain Aboth Synagogue stands at 24 Waterloo Street in Singapore and faces west, toward Jerusalem. The congregation was established around 1840. Land was bought in 1870 for 4,000 dollars from Raffles Institution, and the synagogue was consecrated in 1878. Sir Manasseh Meyer funded it. A U-shaped balcony for women was added in 1893, and extensions and a solid gallery were built in 1924 and 1925.

The design is neoclassical and colonial, influenced by British Late Renaissance architecture. It has Palladian arcades, Roman columns, rusticated walls, pilasters and arched doorways with classical keystones. A covered porch was originally designed for horse carriages. Inside are marble floors, teak and rattan pews and a bimah.

It became a national monument on February 27, 1998. Today it is the main place of worship of Singapore's Jewish community, and the Jews of Singapore Museum opened here on December 2, 2021.
