Larnach Castle is a Gothic Revival mock castle on the Otago Peninsula in Dunedin, New Zealand. The architect R. A. Lawson designed it for William Larnach, a prominent entrepreneur and politician. The land was bought in 1870, construction began in 1871, and the main structure was completed in 1874, with additions continuing until 1887.
It has 43 rooms and a ballroom of 3,000 square feet, finished in 1887 as a gift for Larnach's eldest daughter. The Godfrey family carved the ceilings. Materials came from around the world, including Italian marble and Oamaru stone, and twenty tonnes of glass arrived from Venice in 1875.
The family sold the house in 1906, and it later fell into disrepair. Barry and Margaret Barker bought it in 1967 and restored it. It is now a tourist attraction.
