The Kaunas Mosque stands at Tatars Street 6 in Kaunas. Lipka Tatars arrived in the fifteenth century and established the first mosque. The French invasion of Russia burned the original wooden mosque in 1812, and a new wooden one was built in 1906. The brick mosque was built from 1930 to 1933, with the aid of the state of Lithuania, and designed by Vaclovas Michnevičius and Adolfas Netyksas. The style is Modernist with elements of Islamic architecture.

The building is brick and concrete, with one dome and a minaret 62 feet (19 meters) high. Men pray on the first floor and women on the second.

It was closed and robbed in World War II and used as a circus and a library in the Soviet era. It was returned to the congregation in 1989, and worship resumed in 1991. It was fully renovated in 2018.
