Japca Monastery stands on the shore of the Nistru River, about 10 kilometers from Camenca in the Florești District of Moldova. Its founding date is unclear, and the infobox gives 1693. A legend says a monk named Ezekiel carved a church into the rock. It is an Eastern Orthodox monastery, with services in Old Church Slavonic.
The local landowner Constantin Andronovich Stati built a stone church in 1825, dedicated to the Ascension. Another church, dedicated to St. Archangel Michael, was built in 1949. The main church has been rebuilt several times and has three altars.
Springs on the site are considered to have healing properties. The monastery has no electricity, and its residents do not eat meat. It is said to be the only monastery in Bessarabia that Soviet authorities never closed.
