The Hunan Museum is the provincial museum of Hunan, at No. 50 Dongfeng Road in Kaifu District, Changsha, beside the Revolutionary Martyr's Park. The China Central Academy of Fine Arts designed the present building, with assistance from the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki.

The museum was built in 1951 and opened to the public in July 1956. It closed on June 18, 2012, for renovation and expansion, and the work was completed in 2017. It reopened on November 29, 2017.

It holds more than 180,000 objects, including items from the Mawangdui tombs of the Marquis of Dai and his wife, Xin Zhui. It operates as a public provincial museum, and its president is Chen Jianmin. The renovation and expansion took about five years, from 2012 to 2017.
