Hoensbroek Castle, also called Gebrook Castle, stands in Hoensbroek, in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a moated castle and one of the largest in the Netherlands, with at least 67 halls, rooms and living quarters. A motte-and-bailey stood on the site around 1225, and a fortified manor followed in 1250. The oldest surviving part is a tall round tower from about 1360, built by Herman Hoen, the first lord of Hoensbroek.
The complex has four wings around a rectangular courtyard, reached by a bridge over the moat. Two square towers flank the entrance. Frans Arnold reworked the castle from 1720 to 1722.
The Van Hoensbroeck family lived there for nearly six centuries. It was restored from 1930 to 1940 and from 1986 to 1989, and today it is a museum.
