The Hie Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Nagatachō, Chiyoda, Tokyo. It is dedicated to the deity Oyamakui no Kami. One theory credits Ōta Dōkan with founding it in 1478, although the date is uncertain and another theory links it to a record from 1362. Tokugawa Ieyasu moved it onto the grounds of Edo Castle, and in 1604 Tokugawa Hidetada moved it out so the people of Edo could worship there.
The Great Fire of Meireki destroyed the main hall in 1657, and Tokugawa Ietsuna rebuilt it at its present site in 1659. Bombing in World War II destroyed it again, and the present structure dates from 1958.
The shrine owns one National Treasure, a sword, and fourteen Important Cultural Assets. A large series of torii climbs the hill, and escalators help visitors. Its Sannō Matsuri festival on June 15 is one of Edo's three great festivals.
