Helsinki City Hall stands in the Kruununhaka district of Helsinki, Finland, overlooking Market Square at Pohjoisesplanadi 11 to 13. Carl Ludvig Engel designed the original Neoclassical building, which was completed in 1833. Engel also designed major buildings around nearby Senate Square. Aarno Ruusuvuori designed the extension.

The building opened as Hotel Seurahuone, an important cultural venue that hosted many premieres. The city bought it in 1901. After the hotel moved out in 1913, the city renovated it as a city hall.

Renovations took place in 1965 to 1970, 1985 to 1988 and 1998 to 1999. Ruusuvuori replaced many classical interiors with modern glass-fronted additions. The building houses the offices of the Mayor and Deputy Mayors and meeting facilities for the City Council.
