The Hamad Bin Khalifa Civilisation Center, also called the Grand Mosque of Copenhagen, stands in outer Nørrebro in Copenhagen. It was designed by Jan Wenzel and Lars Tuxen for the Danish Islamic Council and opened in June 2014. Qatar provided about $27 million toward the cost.

The building is made of titanium, glass and polished concrete. It holds 3,000 worshippers indoors and another 1,500 in an inner courtyard. It has one dome and one minaret, the first minaret in Denmark. Its design includes elements that symbolize the link to Mecca.

The council agreed with the city not to broadcast the call to prayer from the minaret. Small speakers above the courtyard doors reach worshippers outside the prayer hall. The center's plans and opening drew public debate.
