The Four Seasons Hotel New York stands at 57 East 57th Street in Midtown Manhattan, between Madison and Park Avenues. I. M. Pei of Pei Cobb Freed and Partners designed it with Frank Williams and Associates. Construction ran from 1990 to 1993, and the hotel opened in June 1993. William Zeckendorf assembled the land in the 1980s, and the project was first announced in 1989 as the Regent New York.
The tower rises 682 feet (207.9 meters) with 52 floors and has 368 rooms and 15 suites. The style is described as New Classical, with interiors that have an art moderne quality. Construction reportedly cost more than one million dollars per room. It is the second-tallest hotel in New York City.
The hotel closed on March 20, 2020, because of COVID-19, and reopened on November 15, 2024, with some rooms. The Ty Warner Penthouse Suite is often listed among the most expensive hotel suites in the world.
