The Church of St. Louis of the French stands at Malaya Lubyanka 2, near Lubyanka Square in central Moscow. The French parish of the same name founded it and owns it. A small wooden church was built in 1790 and 1791. Construction of the stone church began in 1827 under Domenico Gilardi and was completed in 1830. It was consecrated on June 17, 1849.
It is in the Late Empire style, a three-nave basilica with a semicircular apse. The main facade has a six-column portico under a triangular pediment, flanked by low bell towers. The main altar holds an image of the Transfiguration of Jesus.
It was one of the few Catholic churches to stay open in Soviet Moscow. Services are held today in Russian, French, English, Italian and Vietnamese, and the roof, facade and interior were restored in 2017 and 2018.
