The Brno City Theatre, in Czech Městské divadlo Brno, is a repertoire theatre at Lidická 16 in Brno-center, Czechia. It focuses on drama and musical theatre. The drama scene seats 365 and the musical scene seats 680, and the theatre has its own orchestra. Roman Mach and Josef Kubín are credited with the musical scene, and Heinrich Fanta with the drama scene. The theatre was reconstructed in 1995, mainly by modifying the stage.
Its predecessor, the Svobodné divadlo, was founded in the summer of 1945 by people around the director Milan Pásek. In 1962 it was called Divadlo bratří Mrštíků. After the Velvet Revolution it became the Městské divadlo Brno.
Jan Moša became director in 1992 and oversaw the reconstruction of a former cinema on Lidická street. A walk of fame for leading actors has existed since 2000.
